INDIA - INTERNATIONAL ORIGAMI MARATHON

ORIFOLD Creasing Together2024

Origami Oritai presents a virtual origami international event, "ORIFOLD Creasing Together-2024," and the event is supported by The Japan Foundation, India. This occurs simultaneously on Zoom and Facebook Live on June 22nd and 23rd, 2024. Twelve internationally recognized origami masters will be sharing their expertise online during this two-day festival. Through origami, this event seeks to spread love and peace.



The Masters



Amandeep Kaur Lamba



India



Aman discovered origami at her former job in hospitality, inspired by a Japanese client folding paper. She left in 2009 to pursue Japanese paper folding, sharing her passion through workshops and creating unique models, including one featured in Indonesian book "A Thousand Stars for Hope."



Juin Chattopadhyay



India



Juin Chattopadhyay encountered origami at an early age in Kolkata, India. She started to associate with Oritai in 2009. Over the past 15 years, she has had the opportunity to share her knowledge through origami workshops across various universities, colleges and schools. She uses origami as a form of meditation and mental fortitude. She enjoys passing on her knowledge of origami to younger generations. She wishes more schools to include origami in their curriculum.



Anu Katyal



India



Anu Katyal, an experienced educationist, discovered origami through her daughter and became captivated by its transformative nature. She has integrated origami into her teaching methods, using it as a therapeutic tool and as a way to elucidate geometric concepts in mathematics. This practice has enriched her teaching experience at the primary level for quite some time.



Izabel Cristina Amorim



Brazil



Izabel Cristina Amorim teaches mathematics in Brazil. She incorporates origami into her lessons to make learning fun. She enjoys folding and creating origami to help her focus. Being here with all of you is a delight to her.



Michael Muchai



Kenya



Michael Muchai is a Kenyan origami artist from Nakuru who is a college student. He folds origami tessellations mostly. To him, they seem cool. It's incredible how basic algebra, twists, and tilings can create such beautiful artwork. After folding them for a long time, you also gain this amazing enhanced inwardness and attention.



Nguyen Hung Cuong



Vietnam



"Nguyen Hung Cuong is a full-time origami creator from Hanoi, Vietnam. Although his works vary from simple to super complex level, Cuong always pursues elegance and a fluid folding sequence. In 2005, he and his friends established the Vietnam Origami Group (VOG), and some years later they published many origami books."



Rajanya Sen



India



Rajanya sen is from India. She studies in 7th standerd. Her hobbies are reading books, listening to music and stories and crafts making. Origami and Karate are her passion.



Kozuyo Natsume



Japan



Kazuyo Natsume born in Japan but living in Argentina. She loves modular origami more. She started creating modular origami like kusudama, mandala since 2019. And is very happy to share her creations with everyone.



Patrizia Porzio



Italy



Born in Stresa, Patrizia Porzio lives near Varese in Lombardia. north of italy. Doing origami since 1998 and registered at the CDO (the italian association of origami) She loves geometric models like box, stars, kusudamas, both single sheet and modular. Her way of creating models is casual. She works in a company that produces lace and embroidery.she loves sharing her models with origami enthusiasts.



Carlos Oliveira



Brazil



Karlos is 53 years old Brazilian. He is librarian and teacher of Braille, Special Education and Origami in elementary and high school. Passionate about languages, speaks Portuguese, Esperanto, Spanish, French, and Brazilian sign language. Participates in Esper Ori project, creating cards and teaching workshops. Reuses paper which is painted with natural dyes.



Usman Rosyidhi



Indonesia



Usman Rosyidhi is from Indonesia, loves origami as a universal language and a means of fostering relationships with loved ones. His origami creations- such as tessellation, kusudama, and stars, are showcased on the Letsfolding accounts on Instagram. His book "Ayo Melipat," is about origami Kusudamas and stars. The second book is expected to feature stars. His origami tutorials can be purchased on the Origami USA website.



Prenay Surha



India



Praney Surha has been following the ways of paper folding for the past 10+ years, during this time he has studied, created, and modified a lot of models and projects using all kinds of materials and papers. Despite having education in agriculture, he has continued to practice origami as a hobby throughout the years.
