INDIA - INTERNATIONAL ORIGAMI MARATHON

ORIFOLD Creasing Together2023

2nd July, 2023 | 5.30 PM to 12 midnight



Origami Oritai presents a virtual origami international event, "ORIFOLD Creasing Together-2023," and the event is supported by The Japan Foundation, India. This occurs simultaneously on Zoom and Facebook Live on July 1st and 2nd, 2023. Twelve internationally recognized origami masters will be sharing their expertise online during this two-day festival. Through origami, this event seeks to spread love and peace.



The Masters



Kalyani Voleti



India



Kalyani Voleti, a Visual Arts Educator and an origami artist, finds origami ideal for teaching abstract academic concepts, soft skills, and therapeutic issues. She has exhibited her conceptual creations at the Japan Foundation, Delhi and Salar Jung Museum, Hyderabad and has run an Origami Tribute to Mahatma Gandhi, traveling to 25 countries.



Sumedha Verma



India



Sumedha Verma is a Software Developer and an origami enthusiast. Her favorite designs are boxes, flowers, animals, modulars, tessellations, and spirals. She joined Origami Oritai in 2015 and became part of a growing community. She enjoys meeting origami enthusiasts and hopes to continue this hobby.



Yuko Amikura



Japan



"Dr. Yuko Amikura is a scientist who teaches science to youngsters in Tokyo, Japan. She enjoys folding paper and she uses it to interact with kids."



Paramita Bhattacharya



India



Paramita Bhattacharya was born and raised in the Indian state of West Bengal. She had a PHD in Biology but had spent many years teaching Arts and Crafts in Delhi schools. She has received instruction in a variety of arts and crafts. Her love is origami, and she feels that is why she is here now.



Sonniya Katyal



India



Sonniya is pursuing law and has been practicing origami for 12 years, with a special interest in utility and modular origami. Despite the strenuous nature of the law field, she find it relaxing and meditative. she appreciate the beauty of a single sheet of paper and the end result of a model, which she find enamoring.



David Martinez



Venezuela



David Martinez, a Venezuelan native who has been a resident of Colombia and folds with the Amigos Plegadores origami group in Bogotá, DC. Folding geometric, tessellations, and modular origami are among his favourite activities. He tries out new origami mathematical approaches. He likes teaching to construct origami models and discussing his latest discoveries. He enjoys learning new models from other artists.



Indriati



Indonesia



Iin Indriati organises and teaches origami workshops for kids. She loves teaching origami flower folding. She is an origami flower entrepreneur .



Madonna Yoder



USA



Madonna Yoder is a MIT-educated origami designer and instructor, helps the folders to fold from crease patterns, reverse engineer from photos, designing their own tessellations. Her teaching focuses on broader structures, theory and skills in order for her students to get the most out of her tessellation workshops. She's been folding origami since 2005 and tessellations since 2017.



Sabera Akbary



India



Sabera Akbary is an artist and has been working with origami for more than 13 years. she organises workshops to people of all ages and seminars for teachers. She displayed her origami skills at prestigious places like the Japan Foundation in Delhi and J.J. Art collage of Mumbai. She thinks that by working together, we can push the frontiers of origami and share knowledge.



Nirmit Zaveri



India



Nirmit Zaveri is an origami artist and designer. He concentrated in geometric patterns and origami tessellations. He has been creating models for three years. Check out his work at creators.desk on Instagram.



Jannie van Schuylenburg



Netherlands



Origami is Jannie van Schuylenburg's "first love" though she loves other crafts. She is from the Netherlands and teaches origami. She likes sharing her origami expertise, and the ability to do it online is amazing. She adores flaunting her own models, which she makes. She enjoys using paper for play.



Mariela Recinos Akbari



Canada



Mariela is an origami instructor certified by the NOA Nippon Origami Association in Japan. She feels that origami allows individuals to meet others from all around the world and share their enthusiasm. She teaches origami as relaxation therapy. Origami Maniacs is her youtube channel.
